Content Disruption Eliminated
executive summary
A leading European healthcare group operating across Southeast Asia required a complete overhaul of their mobile sales enablement platform. Their 1.0 iPad application, used by pharmaceutical sales representatives to present clinical evidence, product information, and wound-care technologies to healthcare professionals, suffered from critical workflow failures that undermined field operations.

01. Context & Challenges
Empowering pharmaceutical sales teams with a reliable, intelligent mobile platform
The 1.0 platform had been deployed across four Southeast Asian markets, but user feedback revealed fundamental workflow issues that were actively hindering sales effectiveness in the field.
Content updates disrupted live presentations on sales reps’ devices, download failures deleted existing materials, and the absence of a sandbox environment meant every upload immediately affected production content. With operations spanning Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and China, the multi-country content management was cumbersome and lacked analytics visibility.
RedEx designed and delivered version 2.0, a comprehensive redesign introducing a sandbox content approval system, an interactive presentation support, Google Analytics integration, and a color-coded workflow that eliminated content disruption while enabling real-time engagement tracking across all four markets.
Key Challenges
Content Disruption During Approval
When a local admin uploaded new content, it immediately replaced published content and marked the entire category as unpublished, both in the Back Office and on sales reps' iPads. Representatives lost access to presentations mid-cycle.
No Sandbox Environment
There was no staging or sandbox system. Every content upload directly affected production, meaning new uploads could break live presentations before super admin validation.
Download Failures Deleted Content
If a download was cancelled or the network failed during an update, existing presentations were deleted from the device. Sales reps had to attempt downloads 3–4 times to get all updates.
Static Content Formats Only
The platform only supported basic layouts with static images and text. There was no support for HTML5 interactive presentations, embedded videos, or cross-linked content.
No Usage Analytics
There was no way to track which content was being used, how often sales reps logged in, or which presentations resonated with healthcare professionals across different markets.
Multi-Country Complexity
Managing content across Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and China, each with different languages, product portfolios, and regulatory requirements, was manual and error-prone.

03. Key Features
Sandbox & Content Approval System
The cornerstone improvement: new content is saved in a sandbox environment without affecting live presentations on sales reps’ iPads. The workflow follows a clear 4-step process:
Interactive Presentations
Moving beyond static PDF layouts, the platform now supports rich content packages with embedded multimedia and cross-linking capabilities.
- Healing Chart with product descriptions
- Email sharing of PDFs and videos
- Cross-linking between presentations
- Upload compressed packages
- Embedded videos, animations, and sounds
- Full-screen display on iPad
- Related products carousel navigation
- Choose Classic Layout or Dynamic per product
Google Analytics Integration
- Step 1
Local Admin Upload
Local PM uploads new files via their admin account. Files are sent to the Super Admin interface with zero impact on iPad members.
- Step 2
Super Admin Review
New files appear highlighted in orange on the Home tab. Super Admin can preview content in browser or on iPad before making a decision.
- Step 3
Validate or Reject
Super Admin can publish directly (blue), validate without publishing (green), or reject (red). Multiple files can be processed independently.
- Step 4
Status Visibility
Local admins see color-coded status: Orange = Pending, Blue = Published, Green = Validated, Red = Rejected.
A new “Analysis” tab in the Back Office provides two types of per-country analytics, giving management unprecedented visibility into field team engagement.
Connections Analysis
Country → Date → User drill-down tracking login frequency per week/month, last login timestamps, with totals across all markets.
Content Analysis
Tracks clicks on product families, sub-sections, page time spent, video views, technology sections, clinical evidence, studies, PDFs, and healing charts.
Super admins access all country analytics; local admins see only their related country data.

05. Outcome Summary
Insights & Lessons Learned
01
- Sandbox-First Architecture Prevents Field Disruption
By decoupling content staging from production, the platform eliminated the single most damaging workflow issue, live content disruption during the approval cycle. This architectural decision should be the default for any multi-stakeholder content platform.
02
- Color-Coded Status Systems Reduce Admin Errors
The four-color status system (Orange/Blue/Green/Red) provided instant visual clarity for content managers across four countries and multiple languages, significantly reducing approval workflow errors.
03
- Dynamic Presentation Unlocks Sales Storytelling
Moving from static PDF layouts to interactive presentations with embedded video, cross-linking, and related product carousels transformed how sales reps engage healthcare professionals, shifting from passive content display to interactive clinical storytelling.
04
- Per-Country Analytics Drive Regional Strategy
The dual analytics system (Connections + Content) gave regional management the first-ever visibility into which markets, products, and content types were driving engagement, enabling data-driven content investment decisions.
